Move a member between households
An adult child grows up and joins their partner's household. Two households merge after a marriage. Two people who each joined the club on their own now want to pay together. This recipe moves someone out of one household and into another.
If they're going out on their own instead, that's Separate from Household on their record.
Who: Club Admin or Membership Manager. Where: admin panel. Takes: about a minute.
Before you start
- Is a renewal payment with the bank for either household? The move is refused while one is, and tells you so. Wait for it to clear or fail.
- Emergency contacts naming someone they're leaving behind. These don't update themselves — check the member's own emergency information afterwards.
Steps
- Open the member from Members → Members.
- Choose Move to Another Household.
- Search for the household by name or by the surname of whoever runs it.
- Set their role in the new household.
- If they run a household other people still live in, pick who takes it over. They need a login, because the owner is who pays.
- Say why, for the record, and confirm.

moving a member, with the household search and the successor picker
You can do the same thing from the other end: open the household they're joining and use Add Existing Member on its Household Members tab. That one only offers people who live on their own, because moving somebody out of a shared household needs the successor question this one asks.
What happens next
They appear in the new household straight away and drop out of the old one. If that empties the old household, it's closed. Both changes go to each household's activity log.
Their membership, results and payment method are theirs rather than the household's, so they come too. A renewal in progress moves with them — onto the new household's renewal, or a new one if it hasn't got one. Because the new household hasn't agreed to that total, the renewal waits for them to approve it again.
If it does not work
It says a renewal payment is in flight
A payment for one of the two households is with the bank. Wait for it to clear or fail, then try again.
It asks who takes over and nobody is offered
The household they're leaving has nobody in it who can run it — an owner needs a login and has to be old enough to hold one. Give a remaining adult a login first, then move the member.
I moved the wrong member
Move them back the same way. Their old household was closed when they left it, so pick the household they should be in, or use Separate from Household to give them one of their own. Check both activity logs to see what else changed.
