Club features
Your club does not have to use everything on day one. Settings → Club features lets you hide Events, Check-in, Results, Club records or Competitions until you are ready for them, and set one up quietly before members see it. Hiding a feature never deletes anything, and switching it back on shows everything again.
Who can do this?
Choosing what your club uses: Club Admin, in the admin panel. Making a feature available to your club in the first place, and switching on a beta: us, with you.
How it works
Each feature your club can choose has three settings.
| Setting | Members and your club's website | Volunteers and the committee |
|---|---|---|
| On | See it | See it, as their role allows |
| Preparing | Do not see it | See it, marked Preparing |
| Off | Do not see it | Do not see it |
Preparing is for getting a feature ready. Your Events Manager can add next season's sessions and check them over, for example, before a single member sees the calendar. When it is ready, set it to On.
Some features need another one, and each row says which. Check-in and Results need Events. Club records needs Results. Competitions needs both Events and Results. A feature never shows more than the one it needs, so turning Events off hides Check-in, Results, Club records and Competitions too, and setting Events to Preparing holds them all at Preparing. When that happens the row tells you, for example "Showing as preparing because Events is preparing."
The page only lists features your club has. A few are ours to switch on or off for you, such as Finance (treasurer toolkit) and Committee mailing lists: they show their state, but you cannot change them here. A feature we have made permanent for your club shows as Always on.
Beta — ask us to switch this on for your club. Beta features, such as Weather and AI evidence review, carry a Beta label. Weather needs Events, and AI evidence review needs Results or Club records, so hiding those hides the beta with them.
Hide a feature
- Open Settings → Club features.
- Find the feature and choose Preparing or Off.
- Read the check that opens before anything changes. It says who stops seeing the feature, which other features go with it, and what is affected at your club, with numbers.
- Choose Set to Preparing or Set to Off to go ahead, or cancel.
The check counts the things worth knowing about before you hide something:
- Upcoming events that people have entered. Members stop seeing these events and their tickets. Paid tickets stay valid and nobody is refunded automatically. If an event is not going ahead, cancel it as you normally would.
- Event invoices still unpaid. Members can still pay them from their invoice list.
- Results and record claims waiting for review. They stay where they are. Reviewers see them again once the feature is back to Preparing or On.
- Menu links on your club's website that point to the feature's pages. They are hidden, not deleted.
Setting a feature to Preparing keeps it in front of volunteers and the committee, so the check only lists what members and your club's website lose.
Switch a feature back on
Open Settings → Club features and choose On (or Preparing). There is nothing to confirm. Everything comes back as it was: the events and their entries, the results, and the menu links on your club's website.
In the admin panel and the console
While a feature is Preparing, it carries a Preparing label in the volunteer console and in the admin panel's menu, so nobody mistakes it for something members can already see.
When a feature is Off, it leaves the console and the admin panel's menu. If your club has used it, committee members whose role covers it can still open it in the admin panel to read what is there, listed as Hidden: Events (or whichever feature it is). Nothing can be added or changed there until the feature is back on.
What members see
A hidden feature is not there at all: no tab, nothing on the home screen and nothing to tap. If a member follows an old link or a bookmark to it, the member app takes them back to their home screen with the message "This isn't available at your club yet."
Your club's website stops showing the feature too. Its pages, its menu links and the page sections that rely on it are left out until you switch it back on. The help library has an article for members who wonder where something has gone, Why can't I see events or results at my club?
Troubleshooting
A feature I expected is not on the list
It has not been made available to your club. Ask us, and see Getting help for how.
I cannot change a feature
The row shows its state with no buttons. That feature is ours to switch for your club, or it is always on. Ask us if you would like it changed.
I switched a feature on but it still says Preparing or Off
Something it needs is still hidden, and the row names it. Switch that one on first.
